Rachel Mentzer is a printmaker who uses found and recycled materials to create collagraph plates that juxtapose nature with manufactured objects. She repurposes boxes, carving away layers of cardboard to reveal the negative of the image as a functional plate. Once sealed with polyurethane, the cavities in the box hold ink to be printed intaglio. She utilizes chine collé to establish a colorful mulberry paper background. Through her art, Rachel shares her experiences in nature and as a birdwatcher with others.
